Teaching of Economics Undergraduate Certificate The Undergraduate Certificate in the Teaching of Economics (UCTE) offered by the Department of Economics, University of Illinois at Chicago, is designed to help prepare individuals for careers in teaching Economics and Consumer Economics at the secondary school level. It is intended to complement the university degree and certifications that are normally required for teaching. The purpose of the UCTE is to contribute to an improvement in the quality of instruction in the teaching of Economics and Consumer Economics at the secondary level. It will do this by providing training in teaching methods to those receiving a degree in Economics, and by providing training in Economics and teaching methods to those in other disciplines. The UCTE indicates that the student has completed the course requirements and should enhance the recipient’s teaching effectiveness and employability at the secondary level. The UCTE is not a state-issued certificate and does not imply state certification. |
