Teaching of Economics Graduate Certificate The Graduate (Post-Baccalaureate) Campus Certificate in the Teaching of Economics (GCCTE), offered by the Department of Economics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, is designed to help prepare individuals for careers in teaching Economics and Consumer Economics. The Certificate is also intended to complement the university degree and certifications that are normally required for teaching at the primary and secondary levels. Additionally, the GCCTE complements university graduate school subject matter courses in Economics and other Departments through coverage of teaching methods and issues in order to provide training for college-level teachers. The following students are eligible to earn the GCCTE:
The purpose of the GCCTE is to contribute to an improvement in the quality of instruction in the teaching of Economics and Consumer Economics. The Certificate achieves this by providing training in teaching methods to those receiving a degree in Economics, and by providing training in Economics and teaching methods to those in other disciplines. The GCCTE indicates that the student has completed the course requirements and should enhance the recipient’s teaching effectiveness and employability. The GCCTE is not a state-issued certificate and does not imply state certification. |
